Psychotherapy
Individual Therapy for Adults
Dr. Dwyer provides professional and confidential therapy services for adults dealing with a variety of difficulties, including but not limited to anxiety disorders (including OCD and BFRBs), stress, transitions, mood, insomnia, and relationship issues. Building a compassionate and supportive relationship, we will work together to customize a treatment plan using research supported methods. Working together we will examine thought processes and behaviors that may contribute to difficulties and seek ways to change these. We’ll also examine emotions and the unique window into our value system that emotional states provide us.
Therapy for Teens
The teenage years are a time of unprecedented physical, social, emotional, and cognitive changes. A confidential therapeutic relationship can help teens who are struggling with mood, anxiety, self-image, and/or social issues. Dr. Dwyer also supports teens struggling with executive functioning skills, working on behavioral strategies to maximize organization, time management, planning, and prioritization skills. Dr. Dwyer’s extensive experience with adolescents allows her to quickly build rapport and provide a supportive environment in which change can occur.
Therapy for Children
Childhood is no fun when anxiety, mood, or relationship problems get in the way. Dr. Dwyer has extensive experience working with children in both school and outpatient settings. Her gentle and compassionate manner allow her to quickly build rapport with even the shyest children. She empowers kids to “boss back” their difficulties and supports them in changing behaviors. When working with children, Dr. Dwyer always involves parents, and supports families in working together to optimize a child’s level of functioning.
Distance Therapy
Convenient and Efficient
Your time is valuable and precious. Make the most of each minute with distance therapy services on your schedule. Dr. Dwyer provides convenient psychotherapy services, which means less time for you away from the office, away from your children, or away from other responsibilities. Maybe you’ll even free up time for something you enjoy doing! From anywhere in Colorado, you can access professional and secure therapy services. For persons living in other states or Americans living abroad, we can look into requirements and distance therapy may be an option depending on your jurisdiction’s licensing regulations.
Confidential and Secure
All you need to access distance therapy with Dr. Dwyer is an internet connection and a computer or other device with a camera and microphone. Dr. Dwyer uses doxy.me, a secure tele-health platform that is HIPPA compliant and provides a live video feed. There is no recording or “shadow” of therapy appointments, and no client account is needed. Interested in finding out more about distance therapy? We’ll work together to decide if distance services are appropriate for you.
Psycho-Educational Evaluations
Learning Disability Evaluations
Is your child struggling in school? If you are looking to better understand your child’s learning needs and provide him or her with support, interventions, and educational accommodations, you’ve come to the right place. Dr. Dwyer has extensive experience providing comprehensive evaluations of learning disabilities and other factors impacting educational functioning. A psycho-educational evaluation typically includes evaluation of cognitive functioning and in-depth assessment of academic achievement within the domains of reading, writing, and math. Learning Disability evaluations can be targeted to evaluate for a single difficulty, such as dyslexia, but a more comprehensive evaluation is often recommended if educational accommodations are required or if multiple difficulties are suspected.
AD/HD and Executive Functioning Evaluations
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder affects approximately 7% of school-aged children and is one of the more common child and adolescent mental health concerns. Proper diagnosis is the first step in accessing medical and behavioral interventions and academic accommodations. AD/HD can be evaluated as part of a comprehensive psycho-educational evaluation, or through a targeted assessment of attention and executive functioning. We’re happy to talk through your assessment needs and tailor an assessment plan to support your child.
